Winter's here and our house is all decorated for our first Christmas in our new neighborhood! And our house is .. just .. about .. finished.I feel like I've been saying that for months now but it's true. So close! It's frustrating to be sure. On most days, I don't notice it but I sure did this weekend. I mean every new home owner has these complaints--a few trim pieces missing here, a few screws missing there, blah blah. But it was cold this weekend and we sure did miss our radiant floor heating in our basement.
Our home is heated by an extremely efficient geothermal power and our ICF construction keeps our home nice and warm. But we have an open basement so it still can't defy laws of physics--warm air tends to rise, resulting in a temperature differential between our first floor and basement.
So we're still waiting. Trying to be patient. In the meanwhile, we'll just snuggle up with our blankets when we're spending time in our basement family room. Oh, I suppose there could be worse things to worry about as we face the cold Chicago winter.
